Annual General Meeting Report

Following the Annual General Meeting held on October 1, 2026, at the 55th Buccaneer North American Championship (hosted by the Southern Maryland Sailing Association in Solomons, MD), the Buccaneer Class Association officially announces the floor nominations received for the upcoming 2026–2028 National Committee term.

Per Article 3.C of the BCA Constitution, executive elections alternate annually to preserve leadership institutional memory. In this election cycle, three two-year officer positions are up for membership vote: Secretary/Treasurer, Publicity Chair, and Membership Chair.

Maintains official minutes, delivers communications to members, oversees class funds and disbursements, and presents the annual financial balance.

Oversees class publicity, class builder and sponsor promotion, press relations, official digital presence, and communications to the general membership.

Members in good standing can nominate themselves or put forward a fellow Full Member for any of the three open roles—including the vacant Secretary/Treasurer position. Please note that all nominations (including self-nominations) require a second from an active Full Member to appear on the official electronic ballot.

Nomination Window Officially Opened

Commenced two weeks prior to the opening of the 55th Buccaneer North American Championship.

October 1, 2026

AGM Floor Nominations

In-person floor nominations conducted at the SMSA Clubhouse in Solomons, Maryland during the BNAC Annual General Meeting.

Upcoming Deadline

October 22, 2026: Nomination Period Closes

The full 5-week constitutional nomination window concludes. All nominations, seconds, and candidate profile statements must be submitted by 11:59 PM EDT to ensure placement on the ballot.

October 29 – November 12, 2026

Two-Week Confidential Electronic Voting Window

Individual secret electronic ballots will be transmitted via email to all active Full (Owner) Members in good standing. A minimum of seven valid ballots must be cast for certification.

Mid-November 2026

Tally Certification & Immediate Assumption of Office

Newly elected officers will assume their duties immediately upon certification of the ballot tally, ensuring unbroken continuity in class administration.

Voting Rights & Eligibility

In accordance with Article 4.B & 4.C, membership is open to any owner of a Buccaneer. In joint ownership arrangements, one vote is recognized for the owner first recorded on the Class Register. Associate and Honorary Members have speaking privileges but voting in elections is restricted to Full Owner members.

Nomination & Balloting Rules

Under Article 3.D & 3.E, nominations and seconds must be made by Full Members. Floor nominations made at the BNAC AGM are officially recorded and confirmed on class forums. Voting is conducted strictly by secret electronic ballot with highest vote totals prevailing.
