2024 Hospice Regatta

Hard to believe but we are approaching fall sailing and cool air and that means the 2024 Hospice Regatta is coming up soon. We have been doing a lot of prep and planning for the 2024 event and the team has been working hard to make all the plans to host another great event and more importantly, to meet our goal of $130,000 for Hospice of the Upstate.

What is the Hospice Regatta?
This Regatta hosted by WCSC and held October 11-13, supports Hospice of the Upstate, a local non profit Hospice facility. We have raised almost $1.3m over the last 20 years. All of the money raised from this event is dedicated to patients who can not afford end of life care. So it's a big deal and its a great way to make a difference.

How can you help?
You can sail in the event. Please Register early. This will help us with the planning to make sure we have enough food, drink and other great stuff available for you and your crew. Beat the deadline as the fees go up after Friday October 4th. We work very hard to ensure that we have enough food and drink for 300+ sailors, friends and family. With that in mind, we have early registration discounts to encourage you to register before October 4th.

Registration web site

Everything you need is on our event web site here. That includes registering your boat, buying meal tickets, regatta clothing, raffle tickets, golf car chances and bidding on the auction items.

Need a Golf Car?
This year we are again selling chances at a golf car. We don't have the Golf car locked down yet, but pictures and details will be on the web site asap. You don't need to be present to win, so share the web site with friends/family who also might have an interest. Chances are $50 each. You can buy your chances online on the event store page here.

Lots of fleets available for any kind of sailing

We have a fleet for everyone with Centerboard fleets, Keelboat fleets and Distance fleets. Don't want to race but want to participate? We have a Charity Sailing event where you will sail to locations on the lake, get a virtual card and later that night the best poker hand wins valuable prizes. The charity sailing event is a one day event (Saturday only) and is geared towards the sailor who wants to invite family and friends out to the lake and enjoy the Regatta AND support our event. Register here and select Charity Sail as your course.

Sailing for Others

Once again we are holding the Sailing for Others sponsorship challenge to help raise additional funds. This program is not limited to just skippers. We encourage anyone who is attending the event and wants to help us raise money to start lining up your friends, family and co-workers to help. Everything can be done online at the regatta web site. We are giving away one-year membership dues to WCSC. That's right, one year free membership dues to WCSC will be the winning drawing item. We will also draw a 2nd place (6 months free membership dues) and a 3rd place (3 months free membership dues). Note, this does not include any boat, slip, storage or equipment fees, only your quarterly membership dues up to $616 in value. To qualify for the raffle, you must raise more than $500 thru the Sailing for Others challenge. If you raise more than $1,000, your name will be entered twice in the raffle and at each $1,000 increment you will get an additional chance to win. That means $2,000 raised will mean 3 tickets, $3,000 means 4 chances and so on. We hope this helps encourage all Hospice participants to promote the Sailing for Others program and help us meet our goal. Contact your friends, family and co-workers to help support the event.

Saturday night Dinner

We have always had great food at the event. Your meal ticket provides food and drink for the whole weekend including the Saturday night dinnerDon’t miss this great meal and make sure you purchase enough tickets for you, family, friends and your crew.

Saturday night Raffle

If you have never attended, this is a raffle on steroids and is a don't miss part of the Regatta. We are always looking for donation of items that can be part of the raffle. A couple of notes for you to help us with the raffle event. Items donated should be greater than $25 in value. Email AnnaKay Lord at aklord19@gmail.com what you are going to donate. That will help on Friday night with the setup and coordination. We also have an Amazon registered gift account setup so you can buy an item on Amazon and have it delivered to Anna Kay. Easy way to help donate a needed and suggested item.

We always need volunteers

We always have a need for volunteers to help out. If you are interested, contact John or Ronnie at the links below.

If you would like to help please contact John Kreidler (jakreidler1@gmail.com) or Ronnie Ashmore (sailtanzer@aol.com).

With your help, we look forward to putting on another great Regatta while reaching our goal of $130,000 for Hospice of the Upstate.

If you have taken the time to read this far, a big thank you!

Together...we can make it happen. But we can't do it without you.
